이번에 소개할 프로젝은 이원재교수님의 One for All, All for one이라는 슬로건을 주제로 디자인한 광주과학기술원의 커뮤니티센터다.

오픈플랜의 단층의 건축물은 내부에서 학생과 교수님들을 하나의 공간안에서 서로를 유기적으로 연결시켜줄수 있다. 이 커뮤니티센터는 휴식의 장소이자 지식 교류의 장으로서 개인의 쉼과 공동체의 교류를 유도할수 있다. 또한 공간적인 측면에서 투영과 관입의 언어를 사용해 건물 경계에서 다수의 공유공간을 계획해 원할한 소통을 공간의 내외부에서 가능하게 해준다.

이 공간은 특히 캠퍼스의 물리적 중심이자 좌우 양옆의 연구동과 자연공원을 하나의 축으로 연결시킬수 있다.

또한 이 곳은 중심공간으로의 역할, 즉 지역주민과 학생, 교직원이 만나는 커뮤니티 장소로소 규정된다. 이용자의 편의와 효용을 생각한 복합작이고 밀도있는 공간을 제공하기 위해서 건축가는 고민을 하였다.

상상의 발현과 비움을 위한 공간으로서 제공되는 커뮤니티공간은 연구와 실험이라는 큰 비전을 실현하기 위한 상상의 발현을 뒷받침하는 공간이다. 더불어 사유와 사색과 같은 ‘비움’의 공간으로 학생들과 연구자들에게 새로운 원동력을 주는 쾌적하고 유기적인 공간이라고 할 수 있다.

The open-plan, single-story building facilitates organic connections between students and professors in a shared space. This community center serves as a hub for relaxation and the exchange of knowledge, promoting both individual relaxation and community interaction. Furthermore, the design incorporates the use of projection and intrusion to create multiple shared spaces at the building's boundaries, facilitating seamless communication both inside and outside the space.

This space, in particular, is the central physical location of the campus and serves as a connection between the research buildings and natural parks on both sides along a single axis.

Furthermore, this location is designated as a central area, meaning it serves as a gathering place for local residents, students, and faculty. The architect prioritized creating a multifaceted and bustling space that considers the convenience and functionality of its users.

The community space is designed for the expression and exploration of imagination, supporting the realization of ambitious research and experimentation. It is also a welcoming and natural environment that provides a fresh source of inspiration for students and researchers, serving as a space for reflection and contemplation.
